There's a bedroom window that shares alleyspace with my bedroom window, about 1 foot to the left of mine. In fact, it's placed at such an angle that if I drew back my curtain I could wave hello. Whoever lives there has loud sex A LOT and so I do not draw my curtain (lucky for me I like the dusky lamplit look at all hours of the day).

I could ruin their lives so badly by existing more to them than I do now. ha ha ha ha. shut up sex people. It's 7:47 in the freaking morning and you already did this last night. sheesh.

I'm insanely bored and unable to sleep, due to two fluffy puffy kittens that weigh about as much as my opinion of them right now.

When I throw the cheeky one to the end of the bed, it's like bowling with cuteness.

I can't even knit with them in the room, for reasons of innate cat habits I'm sure I don't need to explain.

They're playing with the metal curtains again.

It's sucky snowy out and I can't wait to go home. :/
I'm bringing every pencil and scrap of ink I can carry, and when I walk in my mother's door I will hug her and talk hours with her and then stake out a working desk so I can forget about christmas as completely as possible and just draw til my fingers hurt, away from my life, away from school city everything. i'm going on hiatus.

I will also bake like a mofo. :)
(hey, she buys flour by the 20 kg. bag! resistance isn't possible.)

I duct-taped a loaf of this stuff to my friend's door (he has no: doorbell, phone line, internet, or desire to reach the outside world), and got RAVE RAVE REVIEWS. I accredit it to this recipe, that says to use a Poolish, which, besides being great fun to say, also bubbles visibly like a witches cauldron as the yeast goes to work, and makes bread taste utterly delicious. So yeah, I made bread.

continuing in the vein of Cooking with LIVING CREATURES (spooky!), I actually made a batch of sprouts the other day. They taste pretty wretched, almost like splenda-sweet, but that's just because of the kind of grain I used. I have 3 more batches started (lentil, chickpea, mung), which definitely taste better and I'll post those when they're grown.

is finished, I can sleep!

Vegan Apple-Spice Cookies !

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp each: cinnamon and ginger
1/4 tsp allspice
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup salt-free vegan margarine
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
1 cup apple sauce
1/2 cup chopped apples

I. sift together the flour, baking soda, spices and salt

II. cream together the margarine, sugar and apple stuff, then gradually add the dry ingredients

III. cover and chill for 1 hour, then roll out 1 tbsp-worth balls of dough and squish them onto a parchment-lined cookie sheet with the bottom of a wet wineglass (thicker for cakier cookies, thinner for crispy)

III. bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes, or until browned around the edges

yummy! they don't last very long!

this is a symbol of the apocalypse for my drawing class, we had to make up our own ("the movie's over, the movie's fucking over!")

now I just have to figure out how to make a drawing that's full of *ahem* BLING. I don't really draw bling the way my prof sees it (sleek cars, jewel-encrusted stuff, glitter, etc), but I'll figure it out. I hope he likes really shiny round baubles 'cause that's what I can do... anyway....

Other than that... I'm pretty darned peachy. My desk has turned into the deck of a spaceship that takes me to places that end with beautiful beautiful things. That is to say, lots of projects. :)

The liz made cupcakes.... SUCCESSFULLY !

They're the ppk's vegan Gingerbread Cupcakes w/Lemony Frosting, with some tweaking (way less oil). And of a batch of 10, a scant 2 were cupcake perfection, but that's ok, because that means I can repeat the goodness next time, yay!

Cupcake Culprits ---

1. "12" on my oven is low. "1" is high. O_o........ (no, temperature indicators would be way too easy, must decipher rusted numerals in order to bake. gah)

2. Muffin tins! and no pretty paper cups.

3. Water damage from my perpetually leaking fridge killed two of them. X_X

4. I R IMPATIENT! MUST DE-PAN NOW, GRARARARARARARAR. haha.

Aaaannyway, continuing on like anyone cares, despite the many impediments, they are soooooooo gooooooooooooooooooooood. Like, sex good. Like, they're spicy and moist and lemony sweet and just a bit caramalized, and actually fluffy like cakes!!... *drool*

Little book gained life! It's a piece of peachery, makes internal sense, but it speaks of Everything and the art's kinda fun to watch. Okay, s'about a girl and her invisible boyfriend and the tenuous grasp on Cold Hard Reality that sometimes ain't so Cold&Hard. woot buckets!
